How do Christians living in an age of plenty respond to needs in a global society? asks lecture organizer Cynthia Toms, associate professor of kinesiology. His model and his life espouse a framework that calls us to the difficult work of building authentic relationships with those different than us, starting right here in own backyard.

I am inspired by Roys deep knowledge and belief that in order to build an abundant future society and to find our own place in Gods kingdom, we must do more than just give charitably or offer a one-off service trip or volunteer day, Toms says. We must get to know those living in poverty and build a life that intentionally breaks down barriers.
