College to Light 150-Foot Christmas Tree

Kerrwood at ChristmasHundreds of students, alumni, and neighbors will don mittens and scarves to celebrate Christmas season at the fifth annual Christmas Tree Lighting on °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp’s Kerrwood Lawn, Wednesday, Dec. 6. The lights on the 150-foot redwood tree will aglow at 5 p.m.

Santa Claus will be inside Kerrwood Hall to pose for free pictures with children. Warm apple cider and cookies will also be available.

The °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp Gospel Choir will perform and lead participants in traditional Christmas carols. Alister Chapman, assistant professor of history, will give a short speech followed by the lighting of the tree. The °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp Student Association selects a secret person each year to flip the switch that lights the giant tree.

°µÍø±¬ÁÏapp alumni are invited to a farewell reception in Hieronymus Lounge for Provost Shirley Mullen at 4 p.m.

Alumni are asked to bring a canned good to donate to The Unity Shoppe, a local volunteer program that helps Santa Barbara’s working class needy.
