After two years of creativity and hard work, the alumni office and the information technology department will launch app Connect: A Community for Life in January 2014. This powerful online tool will enable app alumni all over the world to connect for personal and professional reasons, giving them access to jobs, mentors, special interests and opportunities.

“We intend this tool to be a dynamic resource for alumni in all stages of life to reconnect with fellow alumni, create new professional relationships and bring app closer to their home, wherever they may live,” says Teri Bradford Rouse, senior director of alumni and parent relations.

“app Connect represents one of the more important new services to come out of the college in quite some time,” says Reed Sheard, vice president for advancement and chief information officer. “It represents a fundamental shift in how we serve and empower our alumni, and I’m excited to see how this tool enables personal and professional networking among our more than 21,000 alums.”

To encourage hearty participation and enroll as many people as possible, the alumni office will host professional networking events showcasing app Connect in a variety of cities. Between January and July 2014, app staff members will travel to the Bay Area, Orange County, Pasadena, Camarillo, Denver, Portland, Ore., and Seattle to meet with alumni. They will also hold an event in Santa Barbara. Once the alumni office sets dates, they will send out invitations. Check the college’s website () in January for the exact launch date.
