°µÍø±¬ÁÏapp Magazine Two Teams Compete at Nationals

Eight men and six women represented °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Edwardsville, Ill., in May. Senior Robbie Cherry (right, center) earned All-American honors by taking second place in the men’s marathon. His time of 2:29:41 is the fourth fastest in °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp history and serves as a crowning achievement to his collegiate career. Freshman Megan Wong passed two competitors in the final two laps to claim All-American honors in the women’s 3,000 meter race walk. She finished sixth with a time of 15:50.13, more than 50 seconds better than her previous record.

When the NAIA released its women’s tennis preseason poll in February, the Warriors didn’t appear on the list. After a remarkable season, the team earned a No. 12 ranking, an 11-11 record in the competitive Golden State Athletic Conference and an at-large invitation to the national tournament. The women lost in the second round to No. 3 Azusa Pacific (17-5) after defeating No. 25 University of Mobile in the first. Freshman started in the top three singles positions.
