Campaign Exceeds Goal

Thanks to a new $1 million gift from an unnamed donor, app has exceeded the $47 million goal for The Campaign for app. On May 4, David Eaton, chair of the board of trustees, announced that the campaign total had reached $47.1 million. “While we celebrate this wonderful achievement, please continue to pray for our efforts,” he asked. “There is an enormous amount of work left, and the financial needs remain substantial. In campaigns such as these, the resources committed are not evenly allocated toward the stated priorities, and some projects remain unfunded. As such, the final year of the campaign will require continued diligence.”

After donating significant matching gifts to create a revolving student loan fund at app for graduates of California high schools, the Weingart Foundation of Los Angeles, Calif., has pledged $1 million toward the construction of a new center for the visual arts and a building for the sciences. This conditional grant requires the college to raise all the funds needed to complete these essential facilities and obtain necessary building permits.

Gifts Match Grant

Thanks to a generous response to the $5 million challenge grant announced by Stephen and Denise Adams (above) in October, app has already raised $2.1 million toward the match, or 42 percent of the goal.

These funds will support the construction of two new buildings on campus: a center for the visual arts and a building for the sciences.

“What a tremendous incentive this challenge is for alumni and friends,” says Steve Baker, vice president for development.

Denise, a app trustee, and Stephen, chairman of the board of Affinity Group, have given a total of $10 million.
