Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the slots for the program filled quickly, and some students are on a waiting list.

Several faculty members will accompany students and lead discussions about the events throughout the year.

°µÍø±¬ÁÏapp in the Arts grew out of faculty concerns that °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp lacked an artist’s series on campus, which many competitive colleges and universities offer.

The expense of such a series and restrictions on parking and traffic make it difficult for °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp to do, according to history Professor Shirley Mullen. Dr. Mullen and a committee of faculty and staff developed °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp in the Arts as an alternative.

The program is funded by private donors and the participating arts organizations. The students are attending concerts of the Community Arts Music Association, exhibits at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and other events. College administrators hope to secure permanent funding for the program.
